Jubilee Cave

The Hike

A series of limestone and caves above Settle - it is one of my favourite places to visit. There is so much to see and explore. I have visited Attermire many times before but wasn’t quite expecting to be as in awe as I was on this day. From start to finish, the day was filled with both breathtaking moments and pauses to take in the beautiful landscape. Exploring all the caves is a must when visiting Attermire - Victoria which is largest, Albert and Jubilee. I even stopped for my lunch in Jubilee with two sheep in the cave for company.

By extending the walk from Stainforth instead of Settle, I had the opportunity to also explore Catrigg Force. This secluded waterfall, nestled among steep rock faces, is a magical spot where I've enjoyed swimming countless times, especially in the warmer months. However, on this occasion, it had become frozen. Making the waterfall even more mesmerizing. I loved this walk and will be returning as the seasons change. No matter the weather, the Dales is always a fascinating area. Especially in winter conditions like I had.
