Kilnsey & Malham Tarn

Summary

A picturesque hike through the iconic Yorkshire Dales with Malham Tarn that is a popular Yorkshire Dales attraction This is great walk for either Winter or Summer, either way you will be rewarded by great views and away from the crowds. I parked up in the pub car park in Kilnsey, although there are lay-bys on Mastiles lane which I didn’t know about until I started to walk. The first 5 miles are on a clear path’s up to Malham Tarn. Once past the tarn the terrain becomes more open and on paths less travelled. This is where you won’t see a single person for miles, just you and the national park!

Once you start making your way slowly down the valleys you have Cote Gill and Scar Bank to your right and views of Hawkswick Moor. You will arrive on the quiet roads to Kilnsey at the bottom where you can take in the beauty of the Crag which is very popular for rock climbers. This is a nice ended to the Hike.

Note my Garmin stopped just before the end hence why it shows me stopping in Hawkswick. This should head back at Kilnsey.
