Oxenhope Nab

A short but rewarding walk in all seasons!

Summary

This very short walk is intended simply to visit the site of one of the poems by Simon Armitage carved on a slab of rock. At the top on the nab you are rewarded by views over Oxenhope and can see as far as the Yorkshire three peaks on a clear day. There are large cairns to help lead the way with extended views over the moors. These can be used as shelter if the wind is howling on the tops too.

The Hike

The walk starts off from the bottom of Jew lane where we parked. As you head up Jew lane the first turning on the right follows Leeming reservoir on a narrow path which ends up on a gradual ascent up to the top of the Nab. There are sign posts along the route so it is easy to follow. Along the Nab there are Cairns dotted around so you don’t make any wrong turns! At the end of the nab it descents down to the Nab water that takes you back to the path into Oxenhope.
